Between 1985 and 2002, the British architects Alison and Peter Smithson transformed the Hexenhaus from a modest vernacular cottage to one of the most remarkable houses of the late twentieth century. The architects completely redefined the relationship between the house and its surrounding landscape by means of more tan twenty small additions, extractions, satellite buildings, furnishing operations and alternative routes. During this process they established a close relationship with their client Axel Bruch-häuser, owner of the furniture Company Tecta and still resident of the Hexenhaus to this day. This book brings together the postcards sent by the Smithsons to Bruchhäuser over the period of their collaboration, and offers a unique glimpse into their professional and personal relationship.
Entre 1985 y 2002, los arquitectos británicos Alison y Peter Smithson transformaron la Hexenhaus de una modesta casa vernácula en una de las viviendas más notables de finales del siglo XX. Los arquitectos redefinieron por completo la relación entre la casa y el paisaje que la rodea mediante más de veinte pequeñas ampliaciones, extracciones, edificios satélite, intervenciones en el mobiliario y rutas alternativas. Durante este proceso establecieron una estrecha relación con su cliente, Axel Bruchhäuser, propietario de la empresa de muebles Tecta y aún residente de la Hexenhaus en la actualidad.
